Brand New Barbie Basics Range Out Now!

It’s time I got something off my chest once and for all –  my name is Neely and I’m a Barbie-holic.

Yes it’s true, I’ve been collecting Barbies since my teens and have a embarrassingly large collection of about 250 dolls on display at home!

Barbie collection is truly an addiction, what starts as coming across a vaguely collectible doll from a discount store ends with scouring American stores looking for that rare Scarlet o’ Hara Gone with the Wind doll that I just have to have!

One thing that I think any Barbie collector will confess to though is that while it’s nice and adult to keep the dolls mint in their original box (or “MIB” as we collectors say!) the child in all of us wants nothing more than to rip the doll out their packaging and play with them!

As you can imagine I was giddy with excitement when I discovered the new range of dolls from Barbie, labelled “Barbie Basics”.

The Barbie Basics range consists of 12 dolls, with 12 different faces, 12 different skin tones and 12 different little black dresses.

As if that wasn’t enough Barbie have created 4 low priced accessory packs to accompany the range.   Each pack has a theme; a ‘silver’ pack, a ‘gold’ pack, and on trend Eighties pack and finally an evening wear pack.

Unlike the other collectable dolls the Barbie Basics range is designed with a low price point, which alongside the accessories packs is enough to encourage even the most conservative Barbie collector to get them out of the packaging and play dress up!!

Now, in the past the problem has always been that collectors Barbies are notoriously hard to find in the UK, but fear not!  ASOS have just launched their “Barbie Lounge” on their website!  The Barbie Lounge currently stock a number of the Barbie Basics range and the accessory packs so now us UK collectors can get their Barbie fix without having to go through the hassle of shipping them in from the States.

Thank you ASOS on behalf of mad Barbie collectors everywhere!!  You can visit the Barbie Lounge at ASOS by clicking here!

    Hello,

I work for a National Trust property in Berkshire. The property has strong links with the 1950s and as such we are going to have a themed weekend event on the 11/12 June. This will include a display of cars, jive dancing, fashion show, Horrockses exhibition and I would really love to add a display of 1950s toys.

As I’m sure you are aware that Barbie featured a lot in the 50s and I would really love to give our visitors the opportunity to look at a collection which included some from the era but also how they have altered over the years up to the present day. Do you know of any collectors/clubs in Berkshire that might be worth approaching with this opportunity?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Regards,

    Zaira
