Trevor Sorbie Opens New Curl Clinic

For years I have tugged, pulled and literally ironed my hair to keep it poker straight.  I have endured endless blow dries and can’t even begin to count how much I have spent on straightening treatments to tame my curls into submission.

When I look back, I suppose my compulsion to keep my hair straight comes from being an impressionable teenager in the 90′s when celebrities like Jennifer Aniston made straight hair so fashionable and all the cool girls were having the ‘Rachel’ cut.  I wanted in on the action and have worn it straight ever since.

I have however often worried that the constant blow drying will damage my locks and leave me with bald patches when I’m older and to be frank I’m getting bored of keeping my hair straight.  The only thing that stopped me from going back to my curly roots is that if for whatever reason I leave my hair natural it resembles dry tumble weed!

Apparently curls are making a dramatic comeback though and I was very intrigued to hear that Trevor Sorbie salons had launched a “Curl Clinic”, which was able to give their clients a perfect head of curly hair and advice on getting the same results at home.  Determined to find out more I contacted Trevor Sorbie who told me that they have seen a notable rise in requests for BIG blow dries, tips on how to create waves and curls at home and even bespoke permanent waves!

Of course, it’s fine to take their word for it but I decided that the best thing to do would be to try it out for myself, so I booked an appointment at their Covent Garden salon and went along to find out if they could make me change my mind and convert this self confessed straight hair addict into a curly Queen!

I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about going to the salon to have my hair curled.   I’ve never been happy with the results in the past from other salons and in my mind I thought I would leave the salon looking like the Lion from Wizard of Oz, the cobbled streets of Covent Garden my own personal Yellow Brick Road!

Although I’ve obviously heard of Trevor Sorbie,  I’m ashamed to say I’d never used their products before and this was my first visit to one of his fabulous salons.  On my arrival I was greeted by a helpful receptionist and the waiting area was total luxury, they even had a fridge with chilled soft drinks and spring water and as if that wasn’t enough, Trevor Sorbie clients are also offered free cookies!  It’s a far cry from a two month old copy of Heat magazine and a cuppa in a chipped mug that some other salons give you!

My appointment at the curl clinic was with Trevor Sorbie’s uber-talented Director Daniel, who from a consultation and feel of my hair instantly knew the type of hair I had.

I visit very good salons on a regular basis but I can honestly say that my experience at Trevor SorbieCurl Constructor was truly luxurious and utterly fab.   Those of you who are already Trevor Sorbie clients will know what I mean and for those of you who haven’t visited a Trevor Sorbie salon, you simply must or forever wonder what you’re missing out on.

After the very relaxing hair wash and quite frankly being spoilt I was excited to start my hair curling!  After sitting me down, Daniel talked me through all the different types of curls I can have and I really did learn that there are many was to curl your hair.

Like I say, I have had my hair curled my salons in the past and I have usually come out looking like a southern belle with outdated ringlets or the latest terrible celebrity fad.  Daniel was different because he didn’t try and copy a celebrity look, he actually tailor made my curls for my look and my requirements.  Since I had meetings all day I wanted something that looked nice but not too showy and Daniel gave me the perfect understated look for a making a statement.

There wasn’t even any curling mousse in sight,  in fact Daniel showed me how to transform my hair from a wet mop into beautiful everyday curls using nothing more than their Trevor Sorbie Curl Constructor (pictured right) and a curling iron!

Overall the Trevor Sorbie Curl Clinic is a much needed alternative to going into a salon and getting a standard cut and blow dry.   Curls are making a comeback and I would recommend everyone go into a Trevor Sorbie Curl Clinic… I can guarantee you will be hooked!

There are so many different ways that the salon can curl hair I will definitely be going back to try more styles of curls and waves.

The Curl Clinic is available in all three Trevor Sorbie salons and prices are from £20 at the Brighton salon, £25 in Manchester and £31 in London.  This price includes a wash, blow dry, bespoke curls in the Curl Clinic and a product from the Trevor Sorbie Beautiful Hair product range diagnosed specifically for your chosen look.

    Hi Jolene,

You can buy Trevor Sorbie products from Boots or Trevor Sorbie salons. Boots actually have an offer of 3 for 2 on selected items. I’ve already stocked up! x

Totally agree with you about salons making you look like a poodle. Put me off a bit too but i have never heard of a curl clinic. Will be making an appointment for myself at Trevor Sorbie :)

    Your hair looks nice!

  5. I definitely need to book myself in. I reckon I’ve wasted years of my life trying to beat my curls into retreat. If I could get pretty curls rather than bedragled, mop-head I may stop the blow dries! Thank you.
