I have many cosmetic addictions but I have to say that eye shadow and nail varnish are two of my biggest.  Despite several makeup bags full of varnish – and my nearest and dearest regularly pointing out that I’d probably need to change my nail colour 5 times a day for the rest of my life to wear all the nail varnish I own – I just can’t stop buying!!

In fact when it comes to my appearance, people always comment on two things; my wacky choice of nail varnish and my very vivid eye shadows.

When it comes to what brand you should use there really is a lot of choice – personally I sometimes think there’s too much choice – but there are a handful of brands that I buy on a regular basis and absolutely adore.   Barry M is truly one of my favourite brands out there for nail varnish and eye shadows.

My conversion to the church of Barry wasn’t instananeous though… in fact for a long time I thought that Barry M was a brand aimed at teeny boppers and candy ravers so I kept away like the plague!   In retrospect, this is the biggest misconception of the brand.  Barry M isn’t just for the younger market, it’s for women like me who like bright and vivid colours – from striking bright blues to stunning yellows and even white, Barry M has the most fabulous range of colours around.

You can imagine how excited I was then when I discovered the new range of colours for S/S ’10.  Added to the current collection will be a range of “ice cream” colours mirroring the on-trend pastel colours of the season.

Available in Berry Ice Cream, Lemon Ice Cream, Strawberry Ice Cream, Mint Green and Blueberry Ice Cream, the colours make a nice departure from the huge range of colours already on the shelves.  What’s more, with the whole collection available for under £12 it’s purse friendly as well.

Barry M also score high marks with us for their range of Dazzle Dust eye shadows.   I’ve tried other powered eye shadows in the past but they have always been very messy to apply and if – by some miracle – I have managed to get it on neatly the staying power has been poor and the eye shadow comes off during the day.   By contrast, Barry M eye shadows are easy to apply and definitely stays on all day.

My secret tip for Barry M eye shadows is mixing the powder with a tiny bit of water; it becomes a paste type consistency and when applied to the lids the affect is simply amazing in every way.  The colour is even more vivid than in the little pot (not an easy feat!) and it lasts all day without getting in the crease of the lid.

Barry M products and ingredients are never tested on animals and are suitable for vegetarians and are available nationwide at Superdrug & Boots, department stores and independent retailers. They are, without question, a So Darling! favourite!
