Knives Out is an entertaining Whodunnit movie with an excellent ensemble cast of seasoned performers which include Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Daniel Craig, Michael Shannon and Christopher Plummer. Written and directed by Rian Johnson, the film focuses around the death or apparent suicide of Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), a renowned crime novelist at his estate after celebrating his 85th birthday with his entire family. When the murder is being investigated by Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), it seems that everyone in the family had a motive for Harlan’s demise.
Murder On The Orient Express aside, Knives Out gives a nod the classic whodunnit’s that seem to be coming back into style, not only in movies but when it comes to events (I should know, as we organised a murder mystery as part of my sister’s Hen Do celebrations earlier this year).
Knives Out is an entertaining modern-day murder mystery, and it’s enjoyable to see Chris Evans in a role we are not use to seeing him in and Daniel Craig’s character which reminded me of his performance in Logan Lucky.
Apart from the chunky knits adorned by Chris Evans character Ransom Drysdale, the estate belonging to Harlem Thrombey was a huge part of the appeal of this movie for me, the interiors especially. I’ve pulled together some home and interior pieces that are think are worthy contenders of opulence and style that Harlem would approve of.
